 Youth with a Mission - Amsterdam 

Youth with a Mission is a global missions movement, a non-profit organization of people on fire for Jesus, eager to know God better and make Him known across the whole world! Youth with a Mission aims to train young people in knowing God and sharing the Gospel across the nations. YWAM has different bases all over the world, bases in which they provide all sorts of training: Discipleship Training School (DTS), this is a first level training program designed for young people to learn about the faith and to share the faith. Besides this program YWAM offers second level schools, which are higher level schools designed to equip people in various areas of life and christianity, such as bible schools! Next to offering training, YWAM aims to send people out. Every month students are sent out into the nations to practice what they have learned and to reach the unreached, preaching the Gospel to every nation, tribe and tongue. 

One of these bases is in Amsterdam, this is the community that I will join! YWAM Amsterdam is an urban community, a base with a lot of different ministries. YWAM Amsterdam provides multiple DTS programs, several second level schools, it has ministries reaching out to the Red Light District, homeless community, it has a team reaching the city through art and it has a prayer & worship house called the Tabernacle! As you can see, YWAM Amsterdam is both training people through schools and reaching out to the local community on a daily basis! 

What will my role be in this big community full of opportunities to serve? I will do a bunch of different things but my main task will be staffing the January DTS. A DTS consists of two parts, 3 months of lectures and 2,5 months of outreach! During lecture phase I will help facilitate the program, mentor students, follow lectures and support students while they are in class and basically support the students as they are growing and maturing in the Lord, which is such a privilege. After lecture phase I will co-lead an outreach team to another country! As a team we will reach out to the locals in that area and make God known together! 

The January DTS will take up approximately 8-9 months of the year. For the remaining months I will do support tasks, anything that is needed to keep the base running! Whether it is cleaning, helping out in the kitchen or supporting other departments, wherever they need hands, there I will be!
